oh my heart
I've been letting my netflix movies collect dust. i had queued the Indiana Jones series for us to watch so we could go see the new one in theaters.....yup, that didn't happen. So the DVDs had been sitting by the tv for like 3 weeks and i thought maybe i should send them back. I then checked my queue and i had American Gangster, Lars and the Real Girl, and La vie En Rose. I received them last week and haven't had a chance to watch all of them yet.
last night in my insomniac mood decided to pop in Lars and the Real Girl. Sure I've been a fan of Ryan Gosling since he was in The Believer (which scared and saddened me) then in The Notebook (epitome of girl movies, cried like there was no tomorrow) and now after watching Lars.....I have decided to put this one up in my top favorites.
I was in awe of this guy. Lars, what a great character and what a great performance. This movie made me laugh hysterically and cry and basically melted my heart. Yup, my heart was gooey by the end. Not just by Lars, but by the entire community of people he lived amongst and how accepting they were of him.
I also appreciated the costume choices. There is definitely a color theme that runs throughout this movie and i feel it has a lot to do with the reason Lars is the way he is and how he finds his way to the end of the movie. Maybe I'm analyzing this too much but all in all, this was such a great movie. Just thinking about it now makes me smile. My favorite line:
"There's still a kid inside but you grow up when you decide to do right, okay, and not what's right for you, what's right for everybody, even when it hurts"
Here is the Official Trailer for it....
It was nominated for an Oscar for Best Screenplay this year (Juno won) but i feel this is just as good if not better than Juno (IMO).

I loved this movie. I went to see it in the theater with a friend of me and we were expecting a comedy. While it wasn't' what we were expecting I still thought it was an amazing movie. I especially loved how accepting people were. How much they wanted to help Lars.
